INVESTMENTS IN FLEET AND AFFILIATES

We approach the globally fragmented business of helicopter services to the offshore energy sector with broad perspectives – focussing on dynamic trends and best practices in management – while preserving a long-term orientation to the requirements of each local market.  We expand our aircraft fleet based on selective planning and coordinated delivery processes, taking into account the specific needs of our targeted markets as well as those of our local affiliates.  We take great care to identify promising helicopter operators with a like-minded culture, and profitable growth prospects that can benefit from a partnership with us.  When we invest capital in local operators we work in earnest to strengthen such affiliates’ market position by granting them durable access to the latest aircraft technologies as well as support in safety technical, operational, organizational and financial management.

A clear example of this approach is the success story of Omni Taxi Aéreo S.A. (OTA), Brazil’s largest helicopter services operator to the offshore industry by fleet size, for which OHI has been a strategic partner since OTA’s greenfield foundation in 2001: since the introduction of North Sea-standard audit and appraisal systems by Petrobras in 2006, OTA has consistently outperformed its competitors by scoring top-ranking marks in the audits.

 
 

OUR FLEET

OHI manages a fleet of 50 helicopters:
7 Light aircraft
31 Medium aircraft
12 Heavy aircraft
This mix reflects the early–stage development of the oil and gas sector in Brazil and OTA’s market position.  In line with the evolution of that market, the mix will change in the near future as OHI takes delivery of a number of medium, super-medium and heavy aircraft which are currently on order.

BEST PRACTICES

We aim to deliver support to our affiliates through the provision of best-in-class management capabilities across multiple areas. Our central management team works closely with our operating affiliates to enhance the efficiency of their operations, boost their quality of service, and maximise the safety and pleasure of the flight and on-ground experience of the offshore workers.Through our experienced senior management team we identify opportunities for improving the business functions to a group best practice standard and have a framework for implementing changes that are necessary. Our long-term goal is to expose all operating affiliates to a regime of continual improvement in their management style and results.
